| | Information | The KSS Truth and Reconciliation Advisory Committee has created an Outdoor Classroom design that has been proposed for construction on our school field between the school and the basketball courts. Please donate here.
| The purpose of the project is to bridge all students with the land, honour local Indigenous teachings, create a welcoming outdoor gathering space, and partner with people interested in being a part of Reconciliation. This will be a space that emphasizes the use and celebration of Indigenous ways of knowing and being. Students involved have worked on designs to create a space that reflects values of respecting the land, learning outside, storytelling, and many cross-curricular initiatives. The space is also meant to be inclusive, accessible, welcoming, versatile, and safe. | | Information | | Dear KSS Families, In January of this year, our Ministry's Graduation Literacy and Numeracy Assessments for Grades 10s and Graduation Literacy Assessment for Grade 12s were cancelled. These assessments are required for students to graduate.
To ensure all students in Grades 10 and 12 write these assessments and have an opportunity to rewrite in June should they choose to, all of our District's high schools will be conducting a Graduation Assessment Writing Day on April 27th, 2022. On that day Grade 10-12 classes will be cancelled to facilitate all students writing on the same day and ensuring staff are available to invigilate these assessments. Students in Grades 10, 11 & 12 who are not required to write are welcome to attend that day but will be directed to supervised classrooms for independent study. Regular instruction for these grades will be suspended.
Busses will run as usual on this day to facilitate transportation for all students.
Specific details regarding the timing and room locations of the exams on that day will be communicated closer to the date.
Thank you for your understanding of this adjustment to our schedule as we work to provide the optimum opportunities for success for our students.
