Fees
Advanced Placement Exam fees for 2026/25 are set at $140 (Canadian Funds) per exam. AP exams will be administered over two weeks in May: May 4-8 and May 11-15.
Why Write the AP Exam?
Each AP course concludes with a college-level exam developed and scored by college and university faculty members as well as experienced AP teachers. AP exams are an essential part of the AP experience, enabling students to apply the new critical thinking skills they have learned in a comprehensive exam. Most two- and four-year colleges and universities worldwide recognize AP in the admission process and accept successful exam scores for credit, advanced placement, or both. Performing well on an AP Exam means more than just the successful completion of a course. Research consistently shows that students who score a 3 or higher typically earn higher GPAs in college and have higher graduation rates. (AP Program Guide 2025-26)
AP Exam Fees and Deadline
The $140 fee per exam is due on Friday, November 7 2025. Students must declare an intention to write by Thursday, October 23, 2025 and the exam/s will be added to their School Cash Online accounts. An AP Exam Schedule appears on this notice.
Late Fee: Should a student order an exam after the November 7 deadline, a non-refundable late fee of $55 (Canadian funds) will be charged by the AP College Board.
Opting out of an exam once ordered: If a student chooses not to write the purchased exam, a $55 fee will be charged by the AP College Board.
Late testing: If a student misses a scheduled exam or decides to test using the late testing option, there will be significant costs associated with this. The College Board charges a $55 late fee on top of the exam fee. As well, proctors will need to be hired to monitor the exams. Please ensure you arrive at the appointed time for your test.
AP Exam Testing Changes
The AP College Board has been intentional about removing paper and pen testing and replacing them with digital exams. This roll out has been gradual, however this year AP has accelerated the move and KSS now has a number of digital and hybrid exams in May 2026.
Fully Digital AP Exams at KSS in May 2026:
● AP Computer Science A
● AP English Language and Composition
● AP Literature and Composition
● AP Human Geography
● AP United States History
Hybrid AP exams (both digital and paper/pen) at KSS in May 2026
● AP Biology
● AP Calculus AB
● AP Chemistry
● AP Physics 1
● AP Physics 2
AP Exam Schedule:
AP exams will be written at Kelowna Secondary School. Should a venue change occur, parents/guardians, teachers and students will be notified and the KSS website for AP will be updated. Room assignments will be published closer to the exam dates. Students not writing exams will be expected to attend their regularly scheduled classes.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding the AP Program, please contact Mrs. Jonker or ask your AP teacher.
Sincerely,
Kathy Jonker, AP Coordinator

* Please allow an additional one (1) hour of time for registration and mid-exam break. You must remain in the exam room for the entire time. You will not be permitted to leave early.
* If you are writing two exams in one day, depending on exam writing times, there may be very little break between exams and each exam may be in different locations. Please bring a snack/lunch/drink with you---do not rely on being afforded sufficient time to go purchase one.
